Meet today's Beacon, Alysha Myronuk. Wow, does she have a life story to tell! From body dysmorphia in childhood, to losing her parents at an early age, to marriage and divorce at an early age, suicidal thoughts/attempts and alcohol and prescription drug abuse, to name a few. She was even present during a mall shooting! But that's not the end of her story, in fact she is grateful for all of it.
Alysha has turned her seeming tragedies around, and has coined the term "Myrony." (my + irony) which are those crazy things in life that lead us to the right place.
Things we discuss in this episode:
-we all start out free and uninhibited, but then start to compare and shrink ourselves, this is when our body shaming begins
-if you don't go through things, you aren't able to help others. We go through everything for a reason
-when you're suicidal, it may be one person or one thought that can give you strength and pull you through
-being grateful even in the midst of chaos and drama
One of my favorite quotes from her during this podcast was: "It was the ugly that I had to go through so that I could see the beauty in what I was ultimately being prepared for."
And another: "sometimes when things aren't moving the way we want them to move, its because we still have something to learn."

As a note, I allow my guest to express THEIR truths, I am interested in them and how they have arrived in the world. My guest's views do not necessarily represent my own, but I believe they all need to be heard.
